As per title peeps ..... I would like to take my girlfriend to see 'The Dam' as she has never been before. I have only ever been once and that was with a group of lads about 3 years ago and we stayed in a campsite :(
So, I'm looking for a nice clean hotel (nothing too swanky mind) that is nice and central to most things 'Dam' :D If it has nice views of the red light district that I can take piccies of the 'ladies of the night' from my hotel window then that's a bonus :D (My g'f is such a perv ..... nothing to do with me at all :D ).

Any recommendations

I've stayed at the Best Western Eden Hotel. Good location, reasonably central, nice clean hotel and reasonably priced. The Krasnapolsky is a very nice hotel but its expensive.

Assuming you mean amsterdam, I stayed in the Raddison a few years back, was a good quality hotel, and pretty reasonably priced, and located pretty centrally as well.

you called :p

If you want Dam square r/l/d area then the Krasnapolsky is the only choice, for the Lediseplein area then the NH amsterdam cantre is great

the wierd thing about Amsterdam hotels is that the differnce in price between avearge and very good is not that much

an Ibis ( travleodge standard ) will cost about £90 per room per night but a nice 5* like the Krasnapolsky will be in the region of £120 a night

other suggestions that can have good prices are the Toren ( 4* ) and the Bildeberg garden ( just about a 5* but has whirlpool baths ) , the bildeberg is a bit of a walk from the centre though

my next trip is now less than 3 weeks away :D

there are always special offers and if you book using the non cancellable rates then I usually get it for about 169 euros a night

don't forget that amsterdam hotal rates are subject to a 5% tax which is not normally included in the advertised rate

Ive stayed in the Ibis thats just off the canals at the end of Damrak

Its lovely

er , not quite how I would describe it , clean and functional maybe , nice er

the bathrooms are that tiny that you need to undertake a military manouvere to close the door after you go in :p

Ibis Amsterdam City Stopera

Was the one i stayed in it was well nice bathroom was big enough
2 person shower ;) and the room was quite big

And your just posh Rotty :p

ah was the one next to the station I stayed in , leave the window closed and bake or open it and be kept awake all night by the trains

We had a nice balcony as well that was over looking some apartments
the crazy things the Dutch do in the mornings

They also do a pizza delivery service througout the night :D

Krasnapolsky's breakfast room is quite nice ( obviously not quite to the Ibis' standard of course ;) )

Nowt wrong with sausage and scrambled egg croissants with loads of brown
sauce on (that i naturally took in preperation)

www.bookings.nl should sort you out for a hotel. I used to live over there and my mates always stayed at the NH City Centre on Spuistraat. They all seemed to like it as it was away from the madness of Centrum but close enough to walk to anywhere you wanted.

Have fun!

I stayed in a place called 'Hotel Quentin' last time i was there. Not as palacial as the photo above (by a long shot), but much more inkeeping with amsterdam IMO (clean/cheap/decent rooms etc, no yobs and it's right off the square).
Telephone number is: +31-20-6262187
Depends what ** after. This place is simple B+B style, but still quite nice.

Edit: Found the address, it's:
LEISSEKADE 89.
1017 PN
AMSTERDAM.
(That's what it says on the card).
