Hey guys,

This is going to seem like a bit of a weird question, but am wondering if anyone has recommendations for places to buy a phone SIM free.

First thought is to buy from the cheapest source, but I'd guess some places are better than others in terms of after sales care.

Or maybe it doesn't matter, and you'd just recommend a certain insurance company to add on top?

For example, when I bought a MacBook recently, was able to buy from John Lewis (same price as Apple store), but it came with an extra years warranty courtesy of John Lewis. So in that instance, it did matter where I got it from.

Are there any stores/tips like that when it comes to phones?

You might need to be a bit more specific about the phone you're after.
Thanks bremen1874, fair point.

Main phone I'm looking at is the mainstream Samsung Galaxy S8.

For example, have seen it available at some non-high street online stores at discounted rates. Unsure if the stores brand/reputation is important in this instance. Assuming they're not scams.

Did you choose in the end? We got the wife's s8 over the weekend was between John Lewis and car phone warehouse. Both same price, for us no brainer, john Lewis. But car phone warehouse had different coloured s8s so it just depends on what you are looking for. Online I always look at reviews of the site and still a risk, high Street I'd be surprised if there were any scams.

Hey! Just saw your reply.
Actually ended up resuscitating my Nexus 6P with its 2nd battery change thus far. Hoping it makes it until the S9 comes out, then I'll consider buying that.
Totally agree regarding John Lewis being the no-brainer with their customer service policy. That's cool they were price competitive. I got my MacBook from JL rather than Apple for the same kind of reason, you get all the perks of buying from Apple, but get JL's extra year of warranty.
