Currently using Asus 4350 (512mb) which seems to be struggling with 1080p playback. Have tried several different codecs, gfx drivers so guessing time to upgrade.

not looking at spending huge amount so will say £80 & needs to fit a fractal design R3 case. :)

Any recommendations are much appreciated

I have a 4350 which I use for HD, blu ray and media playback and it plays everything at 1080p without any issues.. ? What other hardware are you using and what software for playback.?

Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz
4GB Ram
8-9TB storage (mostly samsung F4's)
Windows 7 x 64

Powerdvd (mostly stutters & goes out of sync)
Media Player Classic (32 bit) (stutters, freezes & random green screens)

I rip the blu ray to an image file and mount into virtual clone drive for playback which works perfect on my main rig.

I'm only using a Athlon II dual core @3ghz & 2gb Ram and all plays without a hitch. I use windows media player with CCCP codec pack for all media exept blu-ray discs which I use powerdvd and all plays without a hitch connected via HDMi to my TV...??

Your setup is better than mine so it should work ok.

think my problem is catalyst control center as my screen is now freezing with lines on it ... now with bsod also :mad:

Also do you use hardware acceleration in Powerdvd?

Sounds like your graphics card has become faulty.

Your RAM may be faulty try some memory tests and you might as well check your processor is stable at the same time.

I had similar problems to you with Power DVD 9 ultra make sure you have it full patched, allso I have noticed it can conflict with some antivirus programs I used to have PC Tools Internet security and the only way I could get smooth blue ray playback was by disableing it.

Had the same problems aswell with an early version of Power DVD 7 and normal DVD playback which was resolved when I updated my soundcard drivers.

Allways seem to get unlucky with Power DVD it can be a total pain in the arse at times getting it to work.

Anything above an nVidia g210 will be fine with hardware acceleration.

My g210 can decode AVC blu ray's that have 5.1 DTS-HD fine using a single core A64 :)

Sorted!! ..... hard drive has failed, found several errors in estool not sure how i didn't hear the drive as it was clicking quite loudly

Still have a slight stutter now & then but i guess i can live with that.

Many thanks for the help.
