Recommendations for case with side-mounted HDDs

I'm thinking of replacing my case. As much as I love my CM Praetorian 731, it has often been a pain in the ass when it comes to longer graphics cards as the PCI-E slots generally sit opposite the HDD cage. I have to be very careful how things are arranged - there's no way a card will sit opposite a HDD for example.

So can I achieve side-mounted HDDs without spending a fortune (£50-80)? Mobo tray and top USB panel would be a nice-to-have but I'm negotiable.

Since the longest graphics card I can think of is 304.5mm (AMD 7990) and the gtx 690 is 279.4mm there are plenty of cases that work for this without having hard drive cages on the back of the motherboard tray.

A corsair 300R can support GPU's of 450mm in length for example.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Corsair Carbide 300R Mid Tower Case - Black £65.99
Total : £77.09 (includes shipping : £9.25).

I get you, quite a jump between those two thermal take cases. Link didn't work before just took me to thermal take overview page. ;)

So I splashed out and bought the Thermaltake Level 10 Aluminium case ;) ;)

Not really. Good advice though. Seems I don't need side-mounted HDDs after all, just more sensibly arranged innards.

Any more suggestions welcomed! My next purchase is an Asus 660ti TOP, so it needs to support 270mm, a bit more for safety!

Take a look at the Antec 302 case. Graphics cards up to 318mm. And under £60 from OCUK.

Andi.
