Hi guys,

My friend and I are building him a gaming PC. So far we've got an OCed 4.5ghz 4790k, 16GB ddr3, Asus ranger vii, and a corsair h100i.

He has £300-400 to spend on an NVidia GPU (preference) and I was thinking 970. Then can SLI at a later date if he needs more...

He hasn't bought a monitor yet, but he's looking at 2560 res. not 4k

My question is which 970 is the one to go for? And is it worth shelling out the extra for a 980 with a rig like this?

Finally, do you guys have any PSU recommendations for this setup? One that supports some of the custom cabling would be ideal since he has a big visual case.

Thanks guys, look forward to your thoughts!

Very true Mikey, I'd still go with the infinity though. I think 2 years is still a good warranty period. If it was 1year I'd be siding with you.

Even though 1440p isn't a huge challenge for the 970 every MHz will make a difference.

The windforce logo glows blue where as the motherboard is red+black.

It is also missing a back plat.
