I'm after a set of headphones for my son who has a gaming pc and an xbox series s. They're in different rooms on the house, so I'm looking for a system that can switch between the two with minimal effort.

I really love steelseries headsets, but the house is a literal graveyard to them at the moment - the mics on the mid to low range models die all too quickly. I must have about 6 or 7 different pairs in permanent storage (it's often nearly as cost effective to get a new set when the mic goes as it is to replace just that part).

I've been looking at the Stealth 700 Gen3's too, which look like the perfect fit with the dual dongles. However, it looks like there's a load of problems with those dongles according to reddit.

Ideally I'd like a decent set that can have two dongles and seamlessly switch between them. I'm not worried about simultaneous use. If that's not possible, then a pair than can do wireless on the PC, and use the 3.5mm jack on his xbox / xbox controller. I would still consider steelseries, but I'm sick of the graveyard in all honesty. I would have thought that by this point that there would be an overwhelming amount of headsets designed for ease of use across different systems... shocking that there isn't much choice.

I'm certain folk here have had this dilemma too. What are my options?

I'm really NOT a fan of "gaming" headsets.
My personal view is a good pair of cans, and a separate mic.
As an example, I use a pair of Sennheisers, with a Marantz mic.

I’ve been using an Astro gaming headset firstly for ps5 for about a year and then the last year with a PC. It’s pretty robust for the money and the sound quality is alright.

Can’t say I’ve ever had a really high end comparison point but out of the few gaming headsets I’ve tried over the years it’s my favourite one so far. The A50 wireless is on sale in various places at the moment

How is the build quality? I've read that sound and mic is excellent, but a mixed bag on the build quality.

I've narrowed it down to the following ATM:

A50 or A50x (possible build quality issues)
Nova Pro Wireless (poor mic)
Corsair Virtuoso Wireless XT (3.5mm only to Xbox controller)
One of the Audeze set of cans

Tbh, it's frustrating to see so many issues with headsets above £200.

I'd normally agree, but he moves between his pc, Xbox, and switch, so I'm really looking for something that can seamlessly move between them. Going separate would make that a pita.
