Recommendations for protective gear and rides near Brecon

Looking at getting some knee and elbow pads. I'm spending a week up in Brecon later this summer and will probably be riding rougher stuff than I do here at home - really want to do "the gap" and stuff like that.

I don't want to spend a fortune, but equally don't want rubbing and discomfort.

Anybody got any recommendations for pads?

Equally any decent rides I should try to fit in?
