Currently have a set if Shimano EH500 pedals fitted to my MTB, I put them on thinking they would offer the best of both worlds however I’ve now done around a 1000 miles on this bike and 99% of them have been when clipped in.

So to do away with the hassle of making sure they are the correct way round I want to swap them for something two sided.

Any recommendations on a set of SPD pedals for both on and off road riding?

Cheers.

I personally use Shimano PD M520s, cheap, reliable. Only thing is they have no platform if you want to quickly jump on with normal trainers.

M520s are on the short list but wondering if something with a little more platform would help when it comes to cleats slipping. I tend not to have them too tight/stiff so I can unclip on trails when things get a little too sketchy.

Anyone have any experience of PD-M8020 or PD-M530 pedals?

I installed the PD-M8120 pair at the weekend and did 35 miles on them, mixture of on and off road. I'm really impressed with them, surprising how much of a difference it makes when I don't have to worry about the pedals being the right way up.
