Can anyone recommend a replacement mobo to replace my (presumed) damaged Gigabyte X58-UD5 mobo. The main specs I require are USB 3.0 and 6gbps Sata capabilities. Oh and should seat a socket 1366 cpu (Intel i7 920). Preferably budget of less than £200...

What he means is would you consider buying new Mobo/CPU/RAM? If not you'll be looking for a second hand motherboard.

Oh my daft moment there. The haswell 2011 socket CPUs right? No unfortunately I would only stick to what I have now (budget issues) and hence only change the mobo. I figured as much it might have to be second hand =(

I would just be looking at auction sites and finding one that has the features you need.

I had a Gigabyte G1 Guerrilla board, pretty good specs, not sure if they are still available though.

Unfortunately the warranty ran out last year (perfect timing), and RMA from gigabyte is £50 plus additional costs of fixing it, might as well put that money towards a new one I guess as won't know how much they'll charge to fix it(!)

did they say it was £50? didn't think it would be that much, they fixed a blown capacitor on my ud5 for free/out of warranty too

Yes this is the email:

Dear Sir,

This item is over warranty by around 6 months. You can still return it but repair is not guaranteed and the fee for this service is £50 payable by postal order only (non refundable) and must be sent with the item. Please advise if you wish to continue and the correct RMA information will then be sent.
