I'm looking to buy a replacement pair of walking shoes since my old ones are falling apart now. I have a budget of up to £80 but don't really know what to go for. They need to be waterproof and also suitable for general use because not only will I be using them in the Lake District, Snowdonia and the Ben Nevis area this year but I will also use them for the urban walking I do around towns etc. My current ones were Regatta and seemed fine, they were material upper rather than leather but I don't mind either way with the new ones. Was wondering what people recommend for this budget and what people own. Hopefully I haven't left out any silly information. I've been to Blacks and Millets but theres a handful of names I don't recognize and I don't know where to start. Is it wrong for me to be drawn straight to the berghaus ones? I swear by their fleeces and jackets, pricey though

My job involves much walking, and i had 2 pairs of berghaus walking boots. They were very comfortable, but both pairs split in the same place.I expected them to last much longer as i only walk on concrete at work.I wouldn't buy them again,as i'm sure there are better makes out there for the same money. You should try a trekking forum if there is one.
Please let me know if you find any decent ones,as i need a new pair.

Those are the makes I recognise, but going for ones just 'cus they're comfortable doesn't mean they will wear well and be suitable, thats why I was asking what people use and what they would recommend not just manufacturer names. Cheers though.

whats wrong with good old cat boots - i walk 5 miles a day, every week day, for the last 8 years - no problems - they last 2-3 years usually before the sole gives up.
