hey guys

im building a new pc in January and am selling off my imac tomorrow so have a bit of money knocking around,

Im looking at going for 2 27" displays, dell ultra sharps were my first choice but £800+ on displays is near the max of my budget and im pretty obsessed with resale value so am afraid ill loose so much on them ina 3 year ownership that they arent a good investment...

Looking for suggestions on other 27" displays of varying quality and features, i dont want something bad but i know a lot of brands share panels so figure there might be a deal to be had!

Only requirements are hdmi for an xbox, no integrated sound required

Thanks for some help, i currently use 4 year old 24" samsung sync masters so anythings going to be better!

You should check these out they are on a special this weekend at £299 and use the LG panel from the Apple Cinema Display units.

IPS tech on a low budget, design isn't as nice as the dells but price is great.

ill take a look, a friend has recommend 'yamakasi'? ive never heard of any of these brands!

is there anything the same as the dells in terms of tech? apparently the video processor in them makes them good?

They do seem a great deal and if your prepared to take that risk then i say go for it.

are those ones you linked on ocuk using the same internals? might be worth getting them, for the little extra since i get the 3 year warranty and a slightly better build quality.

What do i loose between those and the dell?

I can't comment on the Dell but afaik the Yamakasi Catleap is the same LG Panel as the Apple Cinema Display and the DGM linked above.

The Catleaps can only be imported from Korea via eBay and return shipping will cost you a fortune, I've not heard of anyone going this route and many just accept dead pixels and other minor faults because of this. The Catleaps use an A- grade LG Panel so said minor faults are very common, the DGM OcUK sell use an A+ grade LG Panel and the 14-day no fuss returns mean any rare minor issues you may come across on delivery can be returned.

From what I have read the only issues with the DGM are dodgy power bricks and inability to show some BIOS screens. There's a DGM thread here with more details on the BIOS issue, some people are fine, some have workarounds and some people just can't get the BIOS displayed. Faulty power bricks are replaced (rapidly from what I've heard) under warranty.

I've just ordered one of the DGMs myself at £299, they'll go back up to £359 pretty soon!

thanks, ill forget the catleaps then,

These DGM's, how do they are to them dells?

Also with this price, when do they go back to £350? my imac goes on tuesday raising the funds for the monitors...

I was going to go for a Dell U3011, but then I saw the deal on the PB278Q and thought I'd save the money I would've spent on the Dell and use it to improve my system instead.

The Asus PB278Q at £430 is a bargain in my opinion. It apparently has one of the quickest refresh rates and lowest input lag of any 1440p monitor currently on the market, so if you want great picture quality with decent gaming performance you should really at least consider it.

Should be getting mine on Tuesday, so I've got my fingers crossed for no defects.

at £430 its only £50 less than the Dells go for it seems, for £50 id take the dells, its more of a decision on the Dells or the DGM, cant decide!

Are you talking about the u2713HM?

I've been doing some research and people who have compared them with the PB278Q's tended to prefer the Asus model. Some even claiming that the Asus has better build quality and smoother hinge action on the stand.

There have also been noted problems with crosshatching and screen burn with the Dell, so be aware.

nope this dell, but prices elsewhere... http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-041-DE&groupid=17&catid=1120&subcat=

at this point its pretty much if the dell is worth the £200 for the pair over the DGM for me...

G-Sharp let us know how you get on with the Asus please.

Anyone know how long this Asus £430 deal is going to last for??

Ta

hey guys, so what would you suggest as a gaming friendly 27" my issue there is i want 2 matching screens but dont need gaming power on the 2nd one as itll just be used to display web docs and software, so i dont really want to pay a lot extra for gaming credentials on a 2nd screen!

Im not set on the dells at all but just wondered if paying £200 more for them is a good move over all vs these korean ones?

Im open to other manufacturers but they dont seem to be as good as the dell or as cheap as the koreans!
