Recommended Active Speakers?

Size you are looking for ?

Oh, bookshelf max, thanks. Currently using an old pair of Edifier R1600T Plus which are 10 inches tall and 8 deep. I have a little bit of leeway on that, but floor standers and separates intended for home cinema, etc, probably wouldn't be suitable - my desktop is in a small room and I'm trying to minimise clutter, cables, plugs and all that. Looking for something simple and excellent. I sit about 2 feet from my speakers.

I went from the same speakers to a pair of Adam Audio T5V’s they are way better but quite a lot bigger. They are studio monitors so designed to be listened to close, mine are less than 1m away. Bass is not amazing but better than Edifier, but you can add a sub. Mine are connected to a DAC by RCA and I use the DACs remote.

That's a good recommendation, thank you!

What do you use to drive them?

So a Topping DAC which is hard wired to iphone by USB cable, I listen to Capital Radio via global player or Amazon HD Music as Spotify upset me and also does not have HD. Before I used a Chromecast puck with a cable to the speakers using Spotify but Chromecast does not do Amazon so I had to change. There are lots of options out there but check whichever you choose plays your source, I may look at the WiiM Pro when it’s released.
My setup does mean I need my phone connected all the time but it suits me as I sit at my desk all day and the topping has a remote, so just mute when I get a teams call, if get a call it mutes automatically and starts when I end the call.

The idea of using a cheap Chinese amp isn't out of the question. Is that still recommended? It was a very popular thing on these very forums not so long ago. I see a Fosi BT20A on a popular store going cheap. How would that work with a pair of q acoustics 3010i or 3020i?

Other active options I've checked out are
Audioengine A2+
Presonus Eris E5
Ruark Audio MR1 MKII
Q Acoustics M20 (this one's at the very limit of my budget and space)

Went with the Q Accoustics M20s. Bit of a squeeze at the moment, but wider desk was on the cards anyway.

They sound very pleasant, no doubt about that
