Hi, can anyone recommend me any insurers that protect cameras (and other gear) from accidental damage, loss, etc?

It depends what level of cover you want. My kit is covered as part of my home contents insurance (Axa) for less than I could get specialist cover.

If you really want independent insurance then photoguard is normally recommended I think.
As above I have personal possessions cover on my home insurance (currently axa) that includes photography equipment taken out of the house worldwide (up to 60 days) and the extra on the premium is less than the cost of the photoguard policy - although my excess is £200 instead of £50

I've never claimed on either of them so no help in that respect..

it's not zero gain.. it's called personal possessions insurance and it's an added extra on an insurance policy.
If you don't take out personal possessions then you're not normally covered out of the house. (so just "itemising" it isn't enough generally)

Anyone ever had to claim and know how much their premium went up when they lost their house no claims?
