Ello,

It's my birthday tomorrow and I've got the day off work. Traditionally I head into town with mum we have a nice dinner and she buys me some stuff, usually a few bits and pieces I'd find handy. This year I'm looking for car cleaning products. Because of the limited choice of car accessory stores in town I guess Halfords will have to be my store of choice .

What I'm looking for is recommendations of good stuff to buy which Halfords stock. Some time in the future I'll be getting the car detailed as it's black and covered in light swirl marks, but until then I'd like to know what are the best things to do/buy to keep the paintwork in good condition and make the cleaning process as easy as possible.

Thanks,
Andy

turtle wax hard shell is great ,used it on my new car a few days ago ,transformed it ,love watching all that rain just run off ,lasts a good 6 months and makes the car easy to wash :)

Zymol shampoo, autoglym super resin polish, meguires gold class wax, autoglym ultra-gloss protection sealant, a sheepswool washmitt, a meguires claybar kit, some autoglym metal polish, and some turtlewax black in a flash trim wax (if you have any black trim inside or outside of the car). a load of microfibre cloths and foam applicator pads.

That should do for a start.

Don't get microfiber cloths from Halfords though, they sell the exact same ones in Tesco for 86p each. I think they're selling them for £3 each at Halfords.

Autoglym stuff is really good and you can go wrong with it tbh.

This!

Expect i don't rate the wax too high seems to only last a week or two. I doubt theres much better at Halfords though so best applying a thin coat and then rubbing off followed by a second well thats the best way I have found with this.

I found that ! Really cheeky.

Well I went into Halfords yesterday and managed to clean mum's purse out :) Had to put a bit of money towards it myself but I'm all ready to attack the car when the weather clears up now. I got:

Autoglym super resin polish,
Meguiars Gold Class Wash & Wax kit
Autoglym Ultra-gloss Protection
Meguiars Claybar kit
Meguiars Gold Class Leather cleaner/conditioner
T-Cut Scratch Remover (in black, have a couple of small scratches back to the base coat to get rid of)
Turtle Wax Microfiber wash mitt
Tesco Microfibre cloths
Halfords random orbital polisher to apply it all, cos I'm lazy!

Total spend £110! It's certainly cheaper than paying for a professional to do it though.
