I'm building a new Gaming PC and hoped you guys could check over the possible setup, maybe list some improvements.

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600
Gigabyte GA_P35_DS3R Motherboard
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Kit
BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC2 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI
Tuniq Tower 120-LFB CPU Cooler
Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 32-Bit Edition OEM
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (3.5g)
Antec P182 Super Midi Tower Case (Gun Metal Black)

Would 2 sets of the GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency RAM be better than the current RAM?

Thanks for any input.

I do think the Geil would be better since it'll perform the same and will cost less.

If overclocking you'll want an aftermarket CPU heatsink such as the Thermalright or the Tuniq Tower.

With a 32-bit OS you won't be able to use 4 GiB RAM. Get the 64-bit version.

Ah, my mistake.

Something else to consider is that the GTX is currently the top-dog graphics card however its replacement is just months away. It might be smarter to get something like a GT for now and wait to see what the GTX-replacement's prices look like.

I will probably be using it on a HDTV so would the 8800GTX be wasted at 1366 x 768 res?

Ah, my mistake.

I'm only here to help :) .

And did you give us a budget at all, we would be more helpful then :).

[EDIT]
quick spec here:

Q6600
GA_P35_DS3R
2GB GeIL (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C5
EVGA 8800 GT 512Mb
Tuniq Tower
Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
Vista Home Premium 64-Bit - OEM
Corsair HX 620W
Arctic Silver 5
Antec P182

Total: £823.56 (without shipping)

Roughly around the £1000 point. Ideally less though, obviously.

4x1 GB RAM, vista x64 are the only thing that stand out to be improved...

and possibly a sound card, but I would add that as an afterthought, youll probably get on fine with onboard sound.

So would 2GB RAM and a 32bit Vista be better? does anyone have a recommendations for a type of RAM to use? Amount of RAM? and finally would 800MHz or 1066MHz RAM perform better with the Q6600?

I think he's suggesting that you get 4 gigs of RAM along with Vista 64.

Get the cheapest PC2-6400C4 you can find. The Geil OcUK has is great. The reason for this is that 800 MHz memory will work just as well as more expensive 1066 MHz memory when overclocking a Q6600.
