Recommended CPU Cooler

Hi, im currently using an arctic cooler 7, and would like something better.

I have the following preferences:
-Not too expensive!
-Very good cooling, whilst not having to have maximum fan speed
-Is not going to be a pain in the butt to install

Also what thermal compound would you recommend to go with it? Just stick with the stuff that comes with the CPU cooler or get something else? If so could you recommend me something thats good and also easy to spread?

As for thermal paste, most coolers come with some pre-applied

Arctic Silver 5 is the best stuff iirc, but only shaves of a couple of degrees here and there.

i`ve got the Zalman 9700NT, running it on silent with my E6600 (3.2GHz 1.28v) it`s 29c idle and never goes above 50c under load.

Yeah,not cheap at nearly 50 quid but got it as a gift.

If was buying one out of my own cash i would have most prob went for the Tuniq Tower.

Looks like the nvidia stamp whack the price up by £20

I still use a zalman CNPS7700-Cu, looks very out of date and ugly now though - not sure if you can still buy them either.

I've got mine running on the lowest I can get it (with the zally fanmate) and I get similar results, but like i said... *is a silence whore*

Noctua here. Got my E6600 running at 3.4ghz stable under full load and it doesn't rise above the mid 40's. Idle in the low 20's.
