Hi all.

I am planning on finally upgrading my old HD-7950 GPU set up, I had two of these for crossfire, but only bothered with one in the end, with a BenQ 2420 24" LED 120hz gaming monitor that sucks with photo's and movies.

I am most likely going for the Nvidia GTX 1070, but need a new monitor too.

I have been out of the loop for some time, games wise I play all and anything, from indy to whatever new title floats my boat.

As the new GPU I plan on purchasing is an Nvidia I am thinking G-Sync? 24" to 27" and am I right in thinking IPS? but unsure if I should go 1440 or 4k? I want it for gaming, but also a bit of movie and photography stuff.

Any recomendations please, was thinking around £500 would be my limit, but happy to go cheaper or spend a bit more maybe.

For a 1070 then I would def stick to a normal 1440p Gsync monitor and not an Ultrawide one (although tbh they're out of your budget anyhow!)

If you can stretch to a 27" IPS one then def do it, it'll be worth it :)

I would try and pickup a secondhand rog swift for a single 1070, a lot of people have been buying 1440 superwides and sticking their swifts on the MM, seen them selling from 270-400.

so the above link is for the monitors without the back-bleed issue?

if so, i'll take the plunge right now.

Still a lottery....

I purchased this monitor from overclockers in 20th May 2015.

Out the Box the montors looks awesome, no dead pixels, colour and viewing angles perfect, g-sync works great! its hard to back normal monitor now.

My main problem and deal breaker (with the one I recieved) is back light bleeding around the edges of the screen! its bad!! it causes the colour to be washed out, and I personally find it very distracting!

I phone Overclockers to arrange a refund/replacement and was told that Acer are running a program to replace monitors with this issues or I could get a refund. I went for the Acer replacement program, and as of today 16/7/2015, Acer have still not replaced my monitor and no one can not tell me when new ones are due in.

Its been 8-weeks!! suffice to say I'm not a happy bunny and have started the process of getting a refund from Acer. Hopefully that will go smoothly (if it does not I'll be cracking heads and pulling teeth out!)

I expected better customer care and support from a company like Acer especially when forking out

oh,

i would buy the monitor right away from ocuk if i knew it was the fixed replacement.

surely i could have someone from ocuk to check it out before they send it?

I have that very monitor sat in my basket, just trying to justify the purchase to myself.

i just got a response saying that they cannot guarantee that there is no backlight bleed before sending it, but i am welcome to send it back for a replacement within 14 days with the original packaging.

i just want someone to test it before they post it to me, as this will save all the hassle of having to send it back if there is a problem :(

Well I've just bit the bullet & ordered the Acer XB270HU, delivery due tomorrow, lets hope I get a good one! :D

i found out that it is a b-listed item, and the majority of these are customer returns.

this wasn't mentioned on the order page link.

well, whatever.

i've just done the same and placed the order before knowing this.

we can always send it back if things don't work out.

oh well, maybe we'll both win the monitor lottery 2moro robzere!

let's wait and see ;)

As far as I am aware the one I've ordered is new, not b grade.
If, when it arrives it looks as though the box has already been opened it will be going straight back!

Im in a similar situation, just without the funds available atm. Saving up for this I think: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/acer-predator-xb270hu-v2-27-2560x1440-ips-g-sync-144hz-gaming-widescreen-led-monitor-black-red-u-mo-077-ac.html

Theres no real cheap g-sync monitors around currently to tide me over that I can see (If someone wants to pm me what mm is Id appreciate it though :P)

the link above?
how much did you pay?
mine was £529, they were the only ones to come up in a global search in the shop.

Yeah Id be interested to read how you fare with that monitor. I was interested in it based on reviews that I could find, but upon reading about some of the issues some people have had makes me pause for thought.

Why is there a so-called "Panel lottery" at that price point?

Monitor arrived this morning, at first I was a little worried looking at the box as the side of it looked like it was open but inspecting the insides everything still had it's original cling film on.
Screen is excellent, no dead pixels, BLB or glow from what I can see. Just need to fine tune the settings to my personal preferences but overall very happy :D
