Hello!

Could anyone recommend me a router for a 10meg ntl connection.
My setup is a shuttle with pn18 802.11g wifi adapter and an acer aspire 5004wlmi laptop with built in 802.11g wifi.

Ive already managed to go thru two routers already:

A belkin F5D7230UK4 wireless router which kept dropping out, in wifi and in wired connections.

Linksys wrt54gs v5 :(. Which sometimes doesnt assign ip addresses (in auto dhcp?) without reseting. Once i then get connected it tends to dissappear completely from viewing wireless connections with the WLAN light staying constant.

All i want is a stable connection. Any recommendations please?

Thanks
blik

im using a wrt54gs v4 with my 10mb ntl broadband. everything works fine. maybe you just got a faulty one.

hmm is it worth just getting a straight exchange for another linksys wrt54gs v5 router or should i go for another make? I don't think there is much chance of getting a pre v5 router instead. :(

I had the same issue,

also the same routers lol.

I ended up getting a buffalo jobby, canna remember the name of it, am at work at the mo. And my 10mb ntl connection is down at the moment the &**&(* and has been since friday!!

Its silver in appearance and stands up, tall slim and silver lol.

Not much use i know.

Main thing is its been working for 4 months solid with no lock ups or anything.

Those issues sound like they're at the adapter end not the router end. Worst that is wrong is the firmware is dodgy, but you can re-install that and would probably fix any issues.

Also do you use the linksys adapter software?

You mean problems with adapters on both the laptop and my computer? I have tested the laptop on a friends netgear adsl router network and that was fine, connected every time. I have also updated the firmware to most recent from linksys site.

I am just using windows to connect to network also.

Thanks for your help guys its appreciated :D
