Recommended screen size for gaming?

Just wondering what people screen size you all recommend for gaming? Cause it seems gaming on my 24inch on a 5850 reaaalllly lags to unbearable fps on napoleon total war when it really shouldn't i mean come on napoleon total war is not crysis and everyone else i talk to seems to be able to play it comfortably on less spec graphics cards and even if i turn the graphics settings down to really low, it goes up by about 5fps max which is silly really and makes the game seem crap. So i've come to the conclusion that my 5850 can't really handle the 24inch screen on a game like this, dunno if crossfiring will sort it out. So what screens guys?
 
I think your problem lies elsewhere matey, the 5850 should be able to handle a 24" screen without a problem. What drivers are you running, and what settings in total war?
 
I wouldn't want to game on anything smaller than 24" tbh. Try turning the AA down. You won't need it as much at 1920x1200 which is the native 24" res
 
Seriously, i can make everything low on napoleon no AA, low-med everything else and unless its like less than 1000 troops, i grind to a halt like sometimes 16fps. unbearable. so i guess that running at 1920x1200 is killing it?
 
^ thats what i thought, just on empire total war, or napoleon total war it really lags, never get an average of 30fps at least. Oh im on the 10.4 drivers

possibly the cpu iirc tw rags the cpu to hell.

My thought exactly. I mean other people with less powerfull graphics card and processors seem to get at least average of 30fps unless using a recording software like FRAPS.

Its just been annoying me for weeks and i cant seem to fix it so decided to post this lol

But yeah an i7 + 5850 should be able to handle total war mid/high + AA@2 easily.

I feelh your problem lies elsewhere.........
 
Hmmm I've got Napoleon Total war, and I've seen even a 5700 ATI play the game at reasonable res with 2 x AA on, so dunno what's the matter with your system, but somethings not right..

I've got 24" 1080p screen, at 1920 x 1080 with a 5870 the game is perfectly fine. And you've got a better CPU then me...
 
I have a 24" 1080P screen (used to have a 1920x1200 one but it died) anyway my 4870 1Gb still chomps through pretty much every game maxed out. CPU power is what you want the most at the moment I'd say. (with the exception of Metro)
 
I7 at 3.6ghz surely good enough.
Could it be the some files of the old drivers somehow left over after deleteing them and now conflicts with the new drivers? i mean i deleted old drivers and then installed new ones and its not like i was switching from nvidia to ati. Grrr just dunno why it gives me such low fps.. i mean it seems fine in other games, like just cause with everything on max with 30-40fps average.
