Folks, can someone recommend a shoot 'em up that is relatively simple, unlimited lives, with speed and dexterity not being neccessary to progress? The last time I played one was Doom, in the 1980's, but I was a lot younger then, my name should give you a clue. Thanks.
Edit: I do have an Xbox controller.

Perhaps take a look at the Wolfenstein series of games, or the newer Doom 2016 release. Both should be comfortable on game pad.

Bioshock 1 and 2, Bioshock Infinite is also excellent but it features the added dimension of flying round the city on a rails system which is fun but if you're returning then you be best sticking to terra firma to begin with. Both are pretty cheap, Doom 2016 is amazing but as others have said its very fast paced and not an ideal starting point. Mnaged to snag this for £4.50 last week, but it's gone up to £15.

Thing is with Bioshock its not all combat like Doom, there's a deep story and plenty of breaks in between the gun play, so you won't get burnt out.

id recommend borderlands 2, its cheap, plays really well offline and co-op online, doesnt require god like reflexes and can be played perfectly fine on an xbox pad.

CS-GO is free, just play with bots for easy ownage. Keyboard and mouse a must for first person shooters !

I must be missing something because the left stick to aim with is a nightmare, way too sensitive, each to their own I suppose. I've tried FPS with a x-box controller but it was like trying to juggle jelly.

Doom 2016 is easy enough let alone when you choose easy mode. It isn't overly fast and is very forgiving as there's very little platforming.

Destiny 1 is straight forward with good music. It's pretty easy and quite fun. Story and replayability isn't there however. Destiny 2 is kind of the same, more story, less music, and more flash to it, i'd avoid.

Halo Reach. Polished simple game. Good story and music. Doesn't try to deliver anything spectacular, and doesn't leave you dissapointed.

Call of Duty 4 (modern warfare 2007 )was good after the first few missions i remember. Controller support i'm unsure on as i played this on console. But has difficulty modes and well regarded.

Half-life 2 followed by episode 1 and 2, not to be missed! Still stands up today (2004-2007) and was an award winning success after the original daddy.
