I'm looking to create a separates HiFi system with a Wiim Ultra as source ( No CD or Turntable required). I have an option to buy a lightly used Mission amp at a good price, which frees up a bit more for the speakers.

I'm considering stand mounts as I've been told that at the same price point they offer better vfm than floorstanders?

I know I will have to audition them but hoping to create a short list to try and limit the amount of time I need to invest. Budget is £600 ish and musical tastes, include Clapton, Pink Floyd, Joe Bonamassa etc plus male and female vocals e.g. Paul Weller, Beth Hart, Elles Springs. No drum and bass or heavy metal

My preference is for a relaxed sound with clarity for the vocals that can also be played well at low volume. I don't really need plaster cracking volume levels.

If it helps so far I've only listened to Wharfedale 12.1, which at the higher frequencies e.g drum cymbals I found difficult to listen - reducing the treble seemed to just reduce the clarity. If I've read the reviews correctly it seems it shouldn't be the case ? So perhaps I'm sensitive to higher frequency? I also briefly listened to a pair of Mission LX4 ii but they didn't have the clarity I'm looking for.

Any advice much appreciated

I have limited experience, but here's my 2p worth for what it's worth:

Monitor Audio Bronze 200 (floorstanding): good clarity, very detailed in the higher frequencies (possible fatigue)
Dali Oberon 5 (floorstanding): wide sound stage (handy if seating position changes) and a warm vibrant sound signature
Dali Oberon 1 (bookshelf): punch high for their size with surprisingly good spatial separation, but doesn't have quite as much depth as the floorstanding

I have that amp hooked up to some monitor audio bronze 2 with a sub and it sounded great, tried with a range of music including pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Steve earl. It also has a pretty good headphone amp in too.

Any of the Fyne Audio speakers, they have a point source IsoFlare driver that's good at vocals. Fyne Audio speakers are quite sensitive especially the floor standers, so easy to drive. Only real requirement is you pair them with a neutral sounding amp.

And if it helps I downsized and currently use a pair of Dali Oberon 1 speakers. And @ninjag says, they are not ported and due to their size (which is great for blending in a room as they are not to fussy on placement either) they do require a sub for low end (and the Wiim Ultra does have a sub-out). £399

I've got a Wiim Ultra, but that's a Streamer, not an amp, so you would need a two channel amp as well.

I have a Ultra, and a UMIK1 and have used the room EQ feature. Pretty decent I've created a few speaker profiles
