Recommended upgrade from 750Ti for CSGO?

750Ti has been great - it nets me 100-200fps most of the time on medium settings, all without having to upgrade the measly default 300w PSU in my PC.

Since playing more, buying a 144Hz monitor and some maps have been updated, I find myself wanting some more performance. To be able to play at higher settings and get more consistent FPS on some of the more recently updated maps, where currently, I get drops as low as 80fps.

I have a budget of around £200 for a graphics card - I can stretch for a decent performance jump.

Please don't let this be a debate of how many FPS you actually need.

I suspect any better graphics cards will require you to upgrade your PSU too :( which hurts a bit!

Is the £200 including any money you may raise by selling the 750Ti on?

I know. I have an additional £50 budgeted for a PSU.

The £200 doesn't include proceeds from selling the 750, but its considered. It's what keeps me open to the prospect of raising the budget if I can find better value North of £200.

What monitor resolution and CPU?

If you want to stay green a 960 should allow you to keep your PSU, 235W at the wall has been measured (link). Also consider the AMD 280 and 285. Both are a lot faster than the 750 Ti.

R9 290 looks like the best value for performance right now, at £220 it seems to out perform even the 970.

How big a PSU would I need?

the cards is fine for csgo not sure you need upgrade also put settings on low instead medium you will see better and brittleness 1.6

edit: im not sure anybody who plays competitive or semi ok plays on medium or high settings tbh

Have you checked if you GPU usage dip alongside the frame rate when you are playing of CSGO, or it is the case of GPU remain at 100% when the frame rate drops?

If your GPU usage drop alongside the frame rate, it could be your i5 2400 that's holding you back from holding the 100+ fps range frame rate when gaming online, rather than the 750Ti holding you back.

A few years ago, you'd have been preaching to the choir.

You're talking to someone who used to play 1.3 - 1.6 at 640x480 up until 2005 and beyond.

These days, I've come to appreciate the skins and knives that go with the game, and I quite like a bit of eye candy.

I wouldn't mind being able to play other games at decent settings, either.

CSGO is not really demanding...have you actually tried running the game at max setting on your 750Ti and see how much frame rate you lose (if any at all?)
