I am thinking of upgrading my machine (see sig. for current spec) and wondered which was the best way to go for minimal outlay.....

I will need the following:

Motherboard - must be PCI-E, not bothered about SLI, must have on-board sound
Processor - Leaning towards a core 2 duo & wondered which was the best value for money (I've been told the 4600 can be overclocked to a very decent speed)
Memory - I'm assuming DDR2 is the way to go but there is loads of different speeds out there??
Graphics card - Must be at least equivalent to my existing X1950, was thinking about the 8800GTS for £200 - is this a good deal at the moment?

Can anyone advise me on this as its been a while since I've done a major upgrade!?!?!

How does the following sound??

MSI 965P NEO (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (£70.49)
Intel Core 2 DUO E4300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.80GHz (800FSB) - Retail (£112.79)
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) (£146.86)
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (£199.74)

Thanks

It looks fine although I'd change the motherboard to either a Gigabyte DS3 or an Asus P5N-E SLi, I don't know too much about that MSI motherboard but the Gigabyte and Asus are both good. You might also want to get an aftermarket cooler like a Scythe Ninja or Tuniq Tower. :)
