Recommended upgrade

I'm looking for advice on what people think the best upgrade for £200 is likely to be.

Current spec is Amd 3000+, Asus A8N sli deluxe, 1gb Geil Value, 6600GT XFX 128mb pciex graphics card.

I use the rig mainly for gaming and was thinking of changing the gfx card for a X1800 XT card which at 230 was a little over but not much.

anyone with any better ideas?

x1800 xt is where my money would be.

Get that 3000+ working for its power as well. IE OVERCLOCK IT.

just noticed the PowerColor ATI Radeon X1800 XT 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-048-PC) is 260 so for an extra £30 is this worth it over Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-044-CO)?

If you play games at higher resolutions then yes. Would stretch it myself. Also Powercolor includes a free game.

Yep the the PowerColor ATI Radeon X1800 XT 512MB is a steal; great card.
If you play (or want to play) at 1280x 1024 or above then this is quicker at those higher resolutions than the 256MB card (which is damn fast anyway)!

at what res do you think it makes a difference? Currently I play at 1280 * 1024
