HI All,
Need a recomndation for a good quality Wireless NIC for Ubuntu Server;
Current Config:
OS: Ubuntu 64-Bit Server, command line only install. (no Desktop)
NIC: Netgear WPN 311 V3
Drivers: Marvell 64-Bit .inf and .sys files (Direct from Marvell, not Netgear)
W-APP: Ndiswrapper, no MadWifi or Ubuntu Network APP, etc etc.
WEP: 128 bit (would like to use WAP)
I added Ndiswrapper to /etc/modules to ensure the NIC is live at boot. I did the normal modprode and depmod for the kernel, also (as insurance) did Ndiswrapper -mi & -ma to ensrue the modules are loaded at Boot.
I added all the iwconfig data for SSID, Managed Mode, Speed and Key data to /etc/network/interfaces under wlan0 and set to DHCP.
The setup does a minimal job, but is not natively supported in the 2.6.2x.xx kernal and I'm not real happy with Netgear overall.
Does anyone have a recommendation to avoid the excess setup requirments in addition to getting a better quality WiFi card?
