Some of the senior teachers at the school I work at have had iPads bought for their use. One of them doesn't have wireless capability at home and has asked me to find something he can use with his Virgin wired device at home.

His wife has a condition whereby it's best not to have wireless devices in operation so I need to find him something that can be turned on and off when needed to minimise the effect of the wireless on my colleague's wife. Therefore I want to find a quality product but with a nice low price. The TP Link TL-WR702N 150Mbps Wireless N Nano Router looks good for less than £20. Is this an OK product to recommend or are there other access points for less than £30-40 I can recommend to my colleague? :)

The TL-WR702N works very well.

It's really suited to just covering a single room, but does a fair job of covering a normal 3 bed detached house.

Mine's currently stuck downstairs behind a plasma television (powered of one of its USB ports). I'm upstairs at the moment, and according to speedtest.net my iPhone 4S is getting 24Mb/sec and my Nexus 7 27Mb/sec. Good enough for my needs.

If you want to switch it off just disconnect the USB cable that powers it.

Most WAPs if not all should remember their configuration when you switch them off, but just in case back up the config file and store it for them. Then if after the hundredth time it loses it's setup for some reason, just bump in remotely and upload the original configuration.

OK. Might have to get my colleague to bring his MacBook in and set it up so I can back the config up.
