Hi guys,

Really after some help, I used to plough hours of gameplay into the Command and Conquer series before it turned all crap.. most notably Red Alert 2. I already own Red Alert 3 but it doesn't quite grab my attention.

Are there any other games about which you can recommend me to try? I mostly enjoyed the base building from the Red Alert 2 games.

Look forward to your responses.

Starcraft 2 and the original Company of Heroes. Also investigate the Total War series if you don't mind a slow paced strategy game.

Company of heroes
supreme commander 1 & 2
sins of a solar empie=re
Dawn of war 1 and all expansions (winter assault, dark crusade and soulstorm)
if you get dawn of war on steam my friends and I still play, they are not that great at it but they only play bots so...

As someone who adored..
Original C&C
Red Alert
Red Alert 2

Company of Heroes is awesome. You don't 'care' for your units as much as you did in RA2 since you control groups of men instaed of individuals. But it's a great natural progression on from RA2 imo.

I tried all the latest C&C3, RA3 games, couldn't get into them :(

Have got over 2000 hours (probably a lot more) playing Company of Heroes. Skirmish mode is fantastic

-Strangely the very first mission in Company of Heroes is dreadful and plays nothing like the rest of the game, just get through that first level, then see how it goes.

Company of Heroes has been an excellent shout, downloaded the demo and really enjoyed it so this is on the purchase list.
Starcraft I downloaded the demo too, preferred COH though.

Not a fan of turn based games, struggled no end when playing FF7 but obviously I had to complete it lol.

Dawn of war 1 ?

civ v & xcom both will take every spare minute you have away both games are best with there dlcs & can be picked up cheaply at the mo

Another thought - Kerbal Space? thats got some strat to it I think from the Scott Manley videos I've seen?

ksp is one hell of a game, but not really strategy in the way the op seems to be looking for, more design focused on rockets [unless your good enough to be able to build a base]

civ 5 is a very good game, recently took the crown off skyrim for me for number of hours on steam. very much a base [or empire] building game with some of the dodgiest diplomacy known to man [even against the ai].

there's beyond earth soon to be released to [sequel] with a more space age futuristic vibe if thats your thing.
