Man, this is addictive.

I've managed to do one shelf, I have about 9 more to go. I keep finding stuff that I forgot I owned.

Awesomeness...Maybe I should have used this opportunity to realphabetise....

OMG, Leonard Cohen - was you going through a bad time at one stage :)

See you've got Clawfinger - Deaf Dumb Blind.
If I wrote mine down I'd be here for months.

Leonard Cohen's the daddy...

...Of wrist-slitting ballads.

Been into Clawfinger for Donkeys...Got a few more squirreled away.

As I said - I've only got 1/10th of the stuff in this house up...And I have about twice as much again at my parents...I sold most of my vinyl though :(

I find that most peoples' MP3 collection reflects their bandwidth rather than their taste...CD collections are where it's at.

I've got stuff like Heavy Q Connection that I bought because the cover interested me...And it turned out that I loved it!

in most cases (including my own to a certain extent) i'd be inclined to agree with you, but the music i have on my hard drive (for the most part) has all been listened to, and a decision has been made on whether to keep it (if i had a 60Gb iPod, it'd be a different story though!!) i'd say my mp3 collection is an excellent representation of my taste

1 - very true because its what you actually pay for.

2 - When I was a young man in the early 70's most of my record collection was bought in this way by just looking at the cover and it was very rare if i bought something which wasn't any good. Vinyl album covers were a work of art in those days and we'd spend ages looking at them.

How could you not impulse-buy this?

When it turned out to be weird Jap-Mexican electronica, I was hooked :D

The only real vinyl im reasonably proud of owning is my collection of Sisters of Mercy 12" singles which includes most of the early releases nearly all of which have etchings by people onto the vinyl itself. Things like "Spiggy the cat", "Rise and Reverberate" and others which i've forgotten at the moment. I didnt actually know they were there until i had a closer look at the records a long time ago. Im not really sure its worth me filling out one of those lists.

Aye possibly, i suppose its really only interesting as they have been scratched on using a stylus type thing and is pretty much just someones bad handwriting. Must have been done just after they were pressed by whoever was dealing with those particular records, or i suppose possibly when they went out for distrobution. Everything thats scribed onto the record is stuff relating to the Sisters so whoever did it was a fan. I just thought that it was interesting that someone had taken time to do this when making or distrobuting the records. Its not something that was pressed into the vinyl as part of its manufacturing.

Are you talking about the lead out?

No - text inscribed in the master pressing, on the inner portion of the vinyl, just outside where the label goes.

I used to have some old DCHC stuff with text inscribed under the label...

It's usually the band and/or producer that does it.

Thats the lead out - the bit where the last song has just finished and the needle goes to the end and lifts up.
In my day they were part of the master pressing and also the topic of conversation.

I thought you meant the terminating groove itself when you aid 'lead-out' :)
