Hi

I'm involved with a community centre and I have the passwords for everything. What's a good way of storing the passwords and also information on how each system works so that should something happen to me that information is available for someone to take over from?

separate the two, you don't want the passwords stored with your documentation. What's your budget and do you have anything like sharepoint available?

Are you a one man band? I'd be tempted to use keypass, it's more secure than a password protected spreadsheet, which a lot of places seem to use.

Also a fireproof safe and a bit of paper is always an option

Store the documentation in Google Docs (you can share it at various levels), and the passwords in Keepass. Job done.

Password protected excel sheet. All depends on what sort of data you are handling/storing.

Yes, I am a one man band.

We do have a fire rated safe on site and the data would be passwords for everything from admin passwords for server & other software/cctv/domain names etc.

Keepass looks ideal.

Don't use excel password, not sure about newer versions but old ones could be cracked in seconds

KeePass is great we use it with a key file on encrpyted usb flash drives and a strong entry password.

Even simpler, you need to write the passwords down and distribute.
