Record sound playing with ASUS Xonar D2X

How do I record using my asus d2x no recording software.
Want to plug in my reel to reel deck in my sound card and record my reels.
Was dead easy with my soundblaster platinum in years past.

If that doesn't work, you could have a go at trying virtual audio cable.
