MSI Afterburner now has Video Capture features. In my opinion it outperforms both Playclaw and Fraps and is free.

You have to download the Beta if you want to record sound as well.

I've only had a brief go at trying to record game video footage (via Fraps), and apart from a quick thirty second or so recording, it simply stops and goes no further.

I personally use Xfire and Fraps.

Here is a video i recently uploaded. used fraps at half view, so its really 720p not 1080p but youtube says its 1080 :)

only problem that it uses a ******* tonne of hard drive space. might buy a seperate 1tb drive, and dedicate it to fraps. Hate having to delete old good footage :(

+1 for fraps here. Just buy a copy (it's not that expensive and you get updates/support)

I recorded this at half size, 30fps and it looks decent enough.

Full version of fraps has a cap of 4GB per file but it will keep writing out new files continuously/seamlessly for as long as you record and have space. Records stereo3d too, not sure if other solutions can/do, which is a plus for me even if it is a minority need.

it allows you to record I have one for my 360 to upload my fifa11 games on youtube, im sure you can you it for pc also

that would be hauppauge
i was looking into one of their internal PCIe recorders, but the black magic intensity pro looks better

what the OP is looking for is software to record his PC footage, not hardware to record other footage to his PC

Lol i'm looking for cheap/free software, i really dont fancy forking for a hauppauge card as they cost 150 pound > and i also already have a pinnacle card that i used for my xbox360 but its pretty crap.Gonna buy fraps when i get paid next week :)
