Hi

Looking for some advice on recording my guitar tracks to my pc. I'm currently using an M-Audio Fast Track USB device which is ok but I think the USB part is conflicting with some other stuff so I'd like to go PCI now (used to have a shuttle).

So...i'm looking for a guitar jack input and a mic input with nice ASIO drivers - don't really need any cheap guitar bundled software.

What should I get then?

Cheers

They're USB though, and he said he wants PCI?

I just have the output of my amp going into my soundcard, seems to be the easiest solution :)

I use a Boss VF1 effects jobber which has amp sims and stuff built in plugged in to the line in. It does a good job IMHO.

/edit it occurs to me this may not be much help though as you seem to be looking more for a sound card kind of thing. the M-Audio Delta series had a good reputation when I was looking into this kind of thing.

He said he was having problems and the Line6 stuff would solve it.

Thanks guys, the M-Audio 2496 looks fine. Can I plug my guitar jack straight into the 'breakout box' or do I need an adapter?

It takes 1/4" trs inputs so no you don't need the breakoutbox, although it's definately handy as th connections are a bit annoying to fiddle with behind your computer.

Ok apologies if i'm being a bit thick..received the m-audiophile 2496 today. Looking at it I don't see any way to get my jack input into the sound card. Just got phono inputs and xlr on the breakout box.

Do I just need to buy a jack - phono adapter?

Looking at the pictures - yes.
Should cost about £2.
