Recording Screen and Computer's Audio?

Could someone point me in the direction of a (preferably free) piece of software to record the screen and also PC audio?

I tried Camstudio but this seems to want to record from the MIC

EDIT: If poss I'd like to record a section of the screen, not the whole thing. Ta!

If you want to record a game, or any openGL or directX app, then FRAPS is what you want: http://www.fraps.com/

If you want to record the desktop of something then I cant help you!

Cheers - Fraps doesn't do quite what I want unfortunately :S I want to record from desktop. Thanks anyway!

via the speaker icon on the bottom right

double click to bring up "play control" > options > properties > switch the radio button to > Recording > Tick "What you hear" this should then enable you to record any music , etc that you can hear through your speakers

Unfortunately I'm using onboard Realtek audio so it's not an option.

I'll try out that Camtasia demo - thanks

Hrm Camtasia doesn't seem to pick up my audio either - I think that onboard Realtek audio must just be a pile of ****

EDIT: Not Camtasia, just me being a pleb, had something muted in record controls.... oooops!
