hi all, im looking at recording game footage for reviews from my PS4 to put on my youtube channel. Also maybe xbox one on the future.

i was wondering which was the best device to use? i was looking at the

AVerMedia ExtremeCap U3
or the
Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition Plus Video Recorder

my pc spec is

intel Core i7-3930K 4.4GHz (Sandybridge-E)
Asus X79 Sabertooth Intel X79
Corsair Dominator 32GB (4x8GB) PC3-12800C10 1600MHz Dual/Quad Channel
MSI Radeon R9 290 Gaming Edition 4096MB GDDR5
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache

i use sony vegas for editing and Xsplit (paid version) for streamin

I recently bought the Elgato game capture and find it really good, worth looking at unless you've already ruled it out.

havet ruled anything out yet. only recorded on PC so far so not needed anything like this before so looking around to see what its the best.

Its not great quality wise but you tried the video editing app on the PS4? You can edit vids together and export to youtube?

ye tried it, bit crappy tbh, only 15 mins recordings/videos and a pain ass to use i have watermarks/logo's i use and stuff. no really any good for what i do.

was looking at the Game Capture HD60 as well.

Assuming it's compatible with usb3 controller (can be a little fussy), then with that spec, may as well go with the
AVerMedia ExtremeCap U3

Others are limited to 1080p 30fps, while that will 1080p 60fps.

ye the new elgato Game Capture HD60 is 1080p at 60fps as well but only uses a usb2.0

looking at reviews and stuff but was looking at the AVerMedia ExtremeCap U3 as might perform better with having the USB 3.0

after seeing a lot of reviews i might get the elgato Game Capture HD60 and se what it is like. everyone seems to think Elgato are good cards so i might as well give it a go. passes through the tv so thats good as well dont want to play my console games on a preview screen on my pc.

Very happy with my Elgato, never had an issues with it.

well ordered the Elgato HD60 today. fingers crossed its a good bit of kit. might need a USB extension though lol. pc is a little far away from the console. as in other side of the room. have to see though.

I didn't realise they had a 1080/60 card out now. I've got their previous model and am happy with it as well, never caused me issue. Hopefully their new one follows the same path then :).

Wouldn't mind it myself now I know it's out, but laptop not got the power for it :( and pcs are no where near close enough to consoles.

ye it just came out yesterday for UK buyers, was out in the US last week. my laptop could probably run with it as its a MSI GT70.

Elgato HD Game capture. Got one to replace the abomination that is the Hauppauge HD PVR 2.

Super easy and quick to set up and the software is really sleek. Also works natively with OBS if you want to stream on twitch.
