Recording without a drummer? Or: we need a drummer!

I think this is the most appropriate place for this post. Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

My (rock) band don't have a drummer, but we'll still be recording 3 tracks at Prism Studios in Stoke-on-Trent in September.

For rehearsal we've created drum MIDI files which I play through my Yamaha PSR9000 and it sounds decent enough, quite realistic in low-quality digital camera recordings we've done.

BUT...will this give a decent sound in a recording studio? If it won't be good enough, does anyone have any other recommendations? Would creating tracks on something like Reason or Cubase be a good option?

If electronic drums aren't feasible, is there a reasonable price for session drummers? Although we probably couldn't afford that...

And if you happen to be a drummer (or know someone) who would be interested in joining our band, check out some of our old songs here and get in touch: www.last.fm/music/The+Cakes and www.last.fm/music/Relocate+My+Satellites 2 of the 3 songs we're recording are rather cracking and the other one ain't bad.

Probably could find someone willing to do this if you ask the students (ie. place a flyer on thier billboard) around the music tech course of your local college. Normally a few decent ones who might be happy to do a session just for the fun or for minimal cost :)

As suggested students, or a session drummer.

Alternatively ring the studio and ask what drum/synth modules they have available, chances are they'll have a couple of pretty decent ones (hardware or software) and your drum track would sound much better, although, some of it depends on how good your programming is!

Students on anything vaguely music related will probably fall over themselves to help out - try schools as well as colleges.
