Recovered From Serious Error

Hi guys,
My computer had been turned on for about an hour today when all of a sudden it restarted by itself. I wasn't using the computer, it was completely idle so I have no idea what caused the restart.

When the computer loaded back up after the restart a microsoft error report was displayed saying the computer had just recovered from a serious error which was probably caused by hardware failure. I proceeded to send the error report and I was directed to a web page.
It's a very vague page but nonetheless I'd like to post the link here if I'm allowed?

I've checked all my temperatures:
GPU : 42 degrees
ENV : 41 degrees
CPU : 24 degrees
System: 31 degrees

Now, I'm no hardware genius but based on those temperatures I think overheating is not to blame.

I've done dxdiag tests on my graphics card and all were successful.

My computer specs should be in my signature but here they are anyway:
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition inc. SP2
Gigabyte DS3 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz
COConnect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO
GSG.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit
TTThermaltake Big Typhoon 4 in 1 Heatpipe
Enermax 620W PSU (I can't find the proper description)

Should I be worried or could this 'hardware failure' restart be a one off random thing?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Josh

Na I get that aswell with my computer once in a while, but with mine its cos something is not fully compatable with xp, and xp throws its toys out of the pram.

So you thinks its just a one off thing?

It hasn't happened since but its never happened before so I was a bit worried but I suppose it could simply be a random crash.

From the temperatures it is highly unlikely to be overheating (assuming the temperatures are being read correctly). If it is a Microsoft page merely detailing the fault you can post a link as far as I am aware although it doesn't mean anyone here will know that much more.

As the others have said XP sometimes likes to throw it's toys out the pram and tell you that it recovered from a serious error after a crash, often enough a crash it created so unless it happens regularly I'd not worry too much.

The only other thing I'd suggest though is checking the SMART analysis on your hard drive(s), Speedfan does it but I'm sure there are others. :)
