Recovering 360 Profile What A Farce!

So i've been sat here for 20 minutes now waiting for my profile to recover and the progress bar's on about 15%

What the hell is it doing? Surely it cant be that difficult to download a few details about myself!

too much - took me about 25 mins iirc :/

Forget returning customers - popped over to my friends flat for a quick co-op game or 12 and had to wait 30 mins then :/

Thank god for multiple consoles \0/ (GH2 multi)

The worrying thing is, its a new Falcon and the fans have kicked up a fuss. Room temp is currently at 17c. The 360 is sitting there struggling to recover a profile and sounds as though it's heating up.

Mine took about 40-45mins the other week after the LAN. Was desperate for a game of COD4 with sidtheturtle but in the end just left it and went for a bath.

(not that you need to know I went for a bath, I could have said I simply walked away, but some of you may find the thought of me naked in a bath quite appealing: Haly, Jebblemoo, Miss K, Nokkon)

30 minutes later still sat here im bored now.

When I bought my elite around the time Halo 3 came out and Live got sick for a while, I had to wait for about 2 days or so to be able to get my account recovered.


Relax, go and make a cup of tea.

on-topic! the few times ive had to recover my tag it has taken about 15 mins max. not as long as some of you guys but still long enough to take the pee!

would love to know why it takes so long cos tags arnt exactly that big in size, or is it literally jsut to do with MS limiting the speed as was said above?

Wait why were you recovering your profile? Surely since you brought your 360 with you this time you wouldn't need to?

Do they do this to force us to buy memory cards? It really annoys me as I play with my mates a lot and we all have our own profiles.
 
Yes it depends on the profile. My American profile took about 1 minute to recover but my UK one took around 45 minutes. I guess it depends how much activity the account has had - such as downloads etc. Still ridiculous though.
 
Takes a while to do it on the PC- I tried it when I tried Windows Live on GoW for the PC, and (though I was on an amazingly shoddy connection) it took a freakin' age. I'd imagine between 45 and 70 minutes. Wasn't really paying attention after a while. =(

Even worse, I had to do it multiple times in one session, because it my laptop was playing up. =(
