Recovering a deleted partition

I had an accident today when I was reinstalling windows onto my gfs PC. I had used an external drive to backup everything onto (which already had all her college work on). Come the time to delete partitions and reformat I saw there were two drives, I did think that the PC only had one drive but I thought maybe I'd partitioned it into two drives previously or installed a second one so I didn't really think about it, it'd been 2 days since I did the backup so I forgot the external drive was still plugged in!

Anyway, long story short, the backup drive with all their old photos as well as all my gfs college work got its partition deleted. Cue one of those awful moments of "oh ****!".

Luckily a quick google later I found EASEUS partition recovery and it fixed it all! I just had to come on here and put it up in case others are in the same situation.

Fantastic tool and free :D

Testdisk can do it too, it just does an 'undelete', takes a matter of seconds to fix it :D

As long as you've not written anything else to the disc, then testdisk will sort you out.

It's one of the tools on the Parted Magic boot cd, also comes with partition manager etc, all in a nice GUI :D

Cheers for the thread, I didn't know such a thing existed. I done exactly what you done before now, except I just had some media on a drive that was also backed up on another drive, so luckily was able to copy it back over.
