Recovering data from an XP user account

Hi-

I am currently repairing (replacing) a friends PC as it died. There are various pics/docs stored in my documents under an account.

I have plugged the HD in my comp and verified that I can’t boot from it- though I can set it as slave and access all the files except those in the mydocs user account. If i attempt to access said folders - a message tells me "access denied".

I am running xp pro and my account is set to admin- the friends HD is xp home.

Is there any way to get to these files, or any prog which will allow decrypting the ntfs partition?

last time i had to do something similar i just ghosted the entire partition then browsed the image with ghost explorer and dragged the files over.
Proberly otherways but that worked for me.

Of course the proper way would be to simply take ownership of the directories and files...
