Recovering data from formatted hd

Hi,

I accidently formatted my external hd (long story) with all my media files on it..can anyone recommend any programs (doesnt matter if its free or not) that can recover my files?

Free: Recuva, PC Inspector File Recovery etc....

realistically is it possible to get my files back? we're talkin 700mb movies etc.

also also my hd right now is ntfs but it was fat32 (or w/e) before the format...so which sort of recovery tool should i get ntfs version or the fat32 version?
