Recovering data from hdd...

Hi guys.

I was just wondering what software would be best to recover data from a windows boot sector.

I changed cases over and started using an ssd. Wiped one hdd which works fine as it was formatted. The second however appears in disk management and shows up in 'My Computer', however when I try to access it, an error message appears and asks me to format the drive (which I cant because I need the files on the drive). Another error message comes up saying to make sure drivers are up to date, however wont let me click on the update drivers option.

I could be completely wrong with what I think is wrong with it, so any idea's you have would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not very familiar with Linux.

I can create the live CD and boot from it, but how would I go about copying it over to another location from within linux?

where can you get linux live cd ?

http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download

download the version of linux you want.

Use image burn, or similar software to write the .iso to a disk.

On the website, there is an option to save linux and run it off a usb if that is easier.
