Recovering Data from unreadable DVD-R

Hi all,
Does anyone know if it there are ways to recovery files from a unreadable burnt DVD-R/+R. I have tried reading it on several PCs/Laptops and various DVD drives? The DVD has old pictures on it, which are not stored anywhere else?

I'm afraid - if it's unreadable then it doesn't matter what you do to it which will make it readable again. (Unless it's just scratched) then as per below.

Is it scratched at all?

First off, how important are these photos? If they're important, then you need to find a specialist data recovery company, do not cheap out and go for a CD polishing service or the like. If they're not that important and you fancy trying your luck, then perhaps people will suggest some things, like the polishing, that you can try on the cheap.

You can try using a data recovery software such as Recuva or EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard. These programs can scan the disc and attempt to recover any data that is still present.

Give the disc a polish with "brasso". ??

Just for future reference for anyone else that's storing stuff for long term on DVDs / CDs they are not long term storage solutions and the data needs to be removed on a device for long term.
