Hi,

I have a laptop with three user accounts..

I cannot access 2 user accounts they seem to have corrupted..

So I ran a program "bartpe" that I booted from CD..

Bartpe allowed me to see those files but I have no way of copying them, they are document files and some photos..

If I connect my mini hdd BARTPE will not recognise it same with my flash drive.. I cannot even burn them to disk..

So how can I save these files? before I reformat and rectify the problem...

I was thinking of reformatting and then running a data recovery program but I am not sure if that will even work...I cannot afford to lose these files..

Please, please , please help...

Thanks in advance...

A friend recently gave me her laptop as, like you, her account had become corrupted and she had lost all of her pics.
I used a program called Active File Recovery 7.3 Build 101, did the job very nicely and was relatively easy to use.

but i cant install anything on the account I can use due to lack of privileges...

grrr

pls help..

Take the drive out and install it on another machine as slave. Install GetDataBack for NTFS on the PC and run it on the slave drive. Its not free but it is good.

No, they are 2.5in drives with a different connection. You could put it in an external 2.5in drive enclosure or try and find a 2.5in to 3.5in IDE adaptor.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

i do know the difference between master n slave what i dont know is how big a laptop hdd is and how I would connect it to a IDE but as mentioned above I could get a IDE connector...

The only dfficulty is copying the files across I can see them on laptop but I cannot burn them or put them on flash drive, thats where I am stuck....

See cases like this a lot I would have taken out the hdd and plugged it into an 2.5 ide caddy (get em for few quid of fleabay) and plug it into a working pc, run bartpe and then open explorer and copy over the files u want... if u can see the files u should be able to copy em to the working pcs hdd.

If not am sure barpe has inbuilt nero... for corrupted files id run recovery my files its usualy built into bartpe depending on which build u grabbed.
