Hello all,

A member of my family has bought a new PC as his old PC went kapputt. I think it's corrupted a lot of Word documents and some pictures he needs recovering. I've got the HDD sitting next to me and I've tried copying the files over to my HDD but they are unreadable, scrambled text etc.

How can I retrieve the data in a readable format? There are some important documents he needs retrieving and I'm his only hope (unlucky him :( )

Any ideas or pieces of software would be helpful, also what is the best way to connect his HDD to my PC.

Cheers,

Nick

Do a surface scan/file recover. Connect the hard drive to the additional IDE connector on your motherboard.

Usually though if the data is corrupted there's little you can do, you might retreive some of it, but not all.

And no backup? Oh well he's learned his lesson! (everyone learns this, including me!) :p
