I'm trying to help someone get back into their facebook account.
They received a message last night and followed the instructions which has allowed someone else into the account.
The "hacker" then created a duplicate facebook account with the same name and moved the mobile number over to the new account.
We have logged into the new account and removed the mobile number.
We have attempted to start the account recovery process, we have entered the original password, which facebook detects as an old password and confirms that the account needs recovering.
However, the only options are
recover using an email that doesn't belong to this person
use a device that is already logged in (he doesn't have any)
enter the password
If I search for his account using the mobile number it just brings up the new account that we have removed the number from.
I am not sure if his email address was ever linked to facebook, I am assuming not because there is no option to send a link to the original email address like the facebook help page suggests there should be.
I can't see any obvious way to contact facebook to get help with this, just articles that all loop back to each other.
Any ideas ?
