Recovering OLD live account - need help

Hey all,

cutting the story short - i'm trying to recover my old xbox live account onto my 360. the problem i'm facing is the last 4 credit card digits.
We used a family friend's card to register because my family only use debit cards, which aren't/wasn't accepted. My parents fell out with the friend a while back and haven't spoken to her since, and i don't want to ring up just to ask for card details.
I've tried XBL customer support and they couldn't find my account, let alone recover it for me
My old xbox's power supply is blown so can't use that to recover it either.

Any ideas?

I'm presuming it is an original Xbox that the account details are on in which case you can't just take the drive out and stick in another Xbox - the drive needs to be unlocked, and I think that can only be done if the Xbox is modded in some way.
