Lost!
It appears i've screwed up, the outlook pst file i copied was not the current one, and i have now reformatted (quick format) and re-installed windows XP.

Is there any way i can recover the "old" pst file from whereever it may lie on my HDD from prior to the re-format?

I'm desperate for this as i have lost all my emails back to march 2006 :(

There is an old thread somewhere with some good software, get data back might be one of them. Although if you have reformatted you may be out of luck.

best thing would be to turn your pc off right away, take the drive out and put it into another machine when you ready to recover the data.

I dont have another machine that will take a sata drive :(

I'm going to try and get my broken tempramental laptop to communicate over the network to see if i can recover it.

9 months of personal and business emails lost  :o :(

Did you go a quick format of a full format when you reinstalled? If it's just a quick format you should be able to get it back, Windows will just mark it as deleted but the data will still be there until you overwrite it.

I would recommend Easy Recover Pro, great program...

I thought i had the file backed up - turns out that outlook had 2 pst files running, one i knew about and one i didnt.

doesn't matter if you did a full format or quick, it will still be there. getdata back and easy recovery pro are two good ones. Good luck.

I've got get data back from some recovery i did for a friend a while back - run it on the laptop and the 2 computers refused to talk, typical!

So i've rebuilt my old machine with a "new" spare HDD, installing windows now and then shall put on GTB and plug in my hdd as a slave, and hope to recover the data that way.

Fingers crossed!
