hi guys

got a friend whose boot sector on hard drive has become corrupt.

now she has very important emails in her outlook that she needs and has asked me to retrieve them before trying any windows repair jobbie just incase the drive gets wiped.

ive used Bart PE cd and can view the hard drive, but cant seem to locate the outlook pst files.

anyone know where they are located?

if anyone can help, it be much appreciated.

c:\documents and settings\username\application data\microsoft\outlook\ooutlook.pst

something like that

turn on hiden files

thanks mate

she now says that when she uses outlook, the emails aren't saved as .pst files? there saved differently, and once she does a email backup to an external hard drive the emails are saved as .pst files

now i dont use outlook myself ( i use thunderbird hehe)

do you know where the emails are saved then? are they still in c:\documents and settings\username\application data\microsoft\outlook?

or would it be better if i just copy the outlook folder out and back onto another working windows hard drive to retrieve the emails?

Thanks

they'll be automatically stored in a pst file (or very similar iirc)

look around in folders like that

c:\documents and settings\username\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook\outlook.pst

Do a search for *.pst and pick the most recent pst file.
