Hey Everyone, well the problem is my main windows drive has died and I am gonna buy a new hard drive to install Windows 7.
Now the unfortunate problem is I have a 750 gb hard drive which was second hard disk which has all my games, files and photos. Since when I re install windows 7 I will have to format the 2nd hard drive to be able to use it, how will I be able to recover the data from the 2nd hard drive before formatting it. Thanks

You wont have to reformat the 2nd drive if you are installing Windows onto the 1st drive.

You wont even have to format if you install windows on your second drive it will just make the files messy.

Assuming you havent used some sort of key based encryption you should be able to read the files fine.

Oooo I always thought I had to because I remember previously when I first bought the 2nd hard drive it told me it needed to be formatted to be able to use the disk, well I'll just buy another boot drive and see how it goes

yeah when you get a new hard drive then you need to reformat it to apply a file system and structure to it. If you've been using this second drive already then it will be formatted and ready to go.

Depending on how confident you are it might be worth unplugging the the second one while you reinstall windows just incase you format over it by mistake. Once the install is complete plug it back in.
