Hi all recently lost both my windows XP and vista installation whilst using "Easy BCD.2" Probably my fault to inpatient and presume too many things will just work as normal , managed to save all important stuff so all not lost :)

but my question is now i got XP Pro just how i like it (my vista upgrade to much of a pain need retail version i think) ..... is there a program that will copy my OS to removable media with all settings updates etc then simply reload ever thing as it copied it ? even if i had to reformat that drive ? ..... failing that "big wish" could that program recover from a drive i sum how made inoperable

got Norton ghost used to move a hole partition to another drive before can it move it to DVD ? "big big wish"

anyway sorry for long post with many questions

any help advise as always welcome Webb

Acronis True Image, Norton Ghost, Macrium Reflect, Disk Image XML etc etc can all create images of your Windows partition. They will all be able to recover that image to the same or another HDD.

I use Macrium Reflect personally, and that has an option to store your image on a DVD [or rather a set of DVDs]. Though I save my images to a secondary HDD in each PC and they are in turn backed up to my server which is in turn backed up to my USB HDD which in turn is backed up to my brother's PC. Short of war or an asteroid, I'm covered! :p

thanks SiriusB i always assumed it would be many DVDs rather than one, will check out "Macrium Reflect" sounds just up my street

Normally save data, music and downloads apart from OS, and seem to have them saved more than space or DVDs i got left to store on :) (not as extreme as u tho, but now u got me thinking ) but program files also saved, have to be with OS to work, which i could never save ;) to DVD
